close your eyes hold out your hand. is the emerging british brand under which designer-maker marsha oza creates intriguing handmade contemporary jewellery.

using traditional silversmithing techniques, marsha incorporates recycled precious metals, handmade textiles, glass, bio-resins and whatever else takes her fancy into finely crafted, wearable art.

you can find her on pinterest, or at studio 14, nucleus arts chatham (where you are very welcome to join her for a nice cup of tea).

i really like simple, beautiful things (rocks; sunrise; beetles; walking), and i really like clear, purposeful design.

i think contemporary jewellery can be a bit tight-lipped and inaccessible - and it shouldn't be.  after all, at it’s best it’s just a combination of  thoughtful design and beautiful materials.  nothing to be frightened of.  to me it should feel straightforward and familiar: a good comfy armchair; a nice cup of tea; your favourite book.

i design and make jewellery - and knit, and quilt, and all sorts of other tactile, creative type things - because life's somehow just not as vibrant when I don't.  i like spending time with my materials, finding out about their personalities and what loveliness we might make together.
